Latin Name: salvia officialis
The latin name of sage, salvia, means “heal”. Used to be offered to God Zeus by Ancient Greeks. According to the Greek tradition Sage contributes to long living, fighting infections and improving the memory of the elderly.
Its leafs are traditionally used:
• Against cold and flu
• Powerful expectorant in mild bronchitis
• To adjust menstrual circulation and to relieve from the symptoms of menopause
• To boost mental performance and to improve the memory
• As an antiseptic against mouth infections and inflammations of the pharynx (amygdalitis, ulitis and inflammations of the gums)
• Skin moisturizer, especially for the scalp
• Mild digestive
• Washing with sage regulates oiliness of the skin of the face and head

Available in non-pulverized form to be used as an infusion: Add 1 teaspoon of the herb in cup of boiled water and leave it covered for 30 minutes. Filter the infusion and drink it. Consume preferably with an empty stomach or 3 hours after meal.
